Wout van Aert crashes in the second stage of the Tour, Laurens De Plus and Matteo Jorgenson also hit the asphalt

Wout van Aert (Visma | Lease a Bike) fell during the second stage of the Tour de France. The Belgian crashed during the preparation for the intermediate sprint after a difficult maneuver by a colleague. Teammate Matteo Jorgenson and INEOS rider Laurens De Plus also crashed. Van Aert reports that he is doing well under the circumstances and gives a thumbs up in confirmation.

Like the other two, Van Aert did not participate in the intermediate sprint, but suddenly they were all on the ground. All three quickly got back on their bikes, although De Plus, visibly irritated, had to stop for a moment to be checked by the support car. Van Aert and Jorgenson also visited the doctor for initial treatment of their injuries.

Jorgenson had a wound on his right elbow, which, like his right shoulder, was exposed. Van Aert, who was so happy with his good performance on Saturday, had a wound on his right buttock. De Plus had abrasions all over his body.

Visma | Lease a Bike saw three riders hit the ground in two days. Wilco Kelderman crashed during the stage on Saturday, but was able to continue in the second stage just like his colleagues.
