Woman admitted to hospital after fire at Surfers Paradise business

A woman has been hospitalized after suffering smoke inhalation following a fire in Surfers Paradise.

Firefighters responded to a commercial business on Thomas Drive just after 5:30 this morning.

It is understood the fire was only small and was out when firefighters arrived, but it did produce a significant amount of smoke.

At the time of writing, two more firefighters are on scene at 7.15am to test smoke levels and make the area safe.

Paramedics took the woman, aged in her 20s, to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition for treatment.

Nothing is yet known about what caused the fire.
