West Ham make €30m bid to sign former Premier League player

West Ham United have made a €30million bid to sign former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.

The Hammers are on the hunt for a striker who can become the new leader of their attack and AS Roma’s Tammy Abraham seems to be high on their wish list. According to a report from Calciomercato, West Ham have made a €30 million bid to bring the England international back to the Premier League.

Abraham rose through the ranks at Chelsea and made a name for himself. Unfortunately, he could not establish himself as their regular and moved to AS Roma in the summer of 2021 in a deal worth around €40 million.

He had an exceptional debut for the Italian club, scoring 27 goals and also providing five assists. Although it was an exceptional start, things have gone downhill since then. He has been injured for most of the 2023/24 season and it looks like his time at Roma is over.

Daniele De Rossi’s team have already signed Matias Soule and Artem Dovbyk to strengthen their attack and they are keen to sell Abraham.

West Ham can’t pay Tammy Abrahams salary

Although they need a backup striker, they do not intend to pay the former Chelsea player €4.5 million net per season to stay at the club. They are willing to accept his departure due to interest from AC Milan and West Ham United.

Although the player would rather go to Milan because they can offer Champions League football, the Hammers are doing everything they can to convince him of a move.

Michail Antonio is already 34 and has been struggling with knee injuries of late. Although they have Danny Ings in their squad, Julen Lopetegui is not counting on him to be the preferred choice up front. As a result, they are pushing hard to bring Abraham back to England and have put a €30 million offer on the table. It seems like a great opportunity for Roma to cut their losses, but the Hammers will have to convince the Chelsea graduate to make the move.
