Volleyball Announces 2024 Schedule – Eastern Michigan University Athletics

YPSILANTI, Michigan (EMUEagles.com) – Eastern Michigan University and second-year head volleyball coach Kevin Foeman announced the Eagles’ volleyball schedule for 2024 on Monday, July 15.

The Eagles are scheduled to play 32 regular season games, with 13 of those games taking place at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti and 19 of those games on the road. Eastern will often find itself outside the Mid-American Conference, as they will face 14 institutions outside the MAC. Postseason action begins on November 22 with the MAC Tournament.

After an exhibition with Hillsdale College at home on Aug. 24, the Eagles will fly into the regular season, beginning with the Hampton Inn Invitational, hosted by Indiana University-Indianapolis, Aug. 30-31. Eastern plays two games, Aug. 30, first against SIUE, 10 a.m., and then against Valparaiso University, 5 p.m. The next day, the Eagles play tournament host IU Indy, 4 p.m.

Next, EMU travels west to take on Washtenaw County rival, the University of Michigan, Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m.

Eastern is scheduled to open its regular season home stretch with the EMU Tournament, Friday-Saturday, Sept. 6-7. The Eagles host opponents from George Washington University, Oakland University and Marshall University. The Green and White open the tournament Friday night with a 6:30 p.m. game against George Washington, followed by two games on Saturday against Marshall, at 3 p.m., and Oakland, at 7 p.m., respectively.

Following the EMU tournament, the Eagles will face off in another tournament with the Comfort Inn-Vitational, hosted by the Eagles of Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky, Friday-Saturday, Sept. 13-14. Their three-game schedule in Morehead includes matches against the University of Evansville, 1 p.m., and Morehead State, 7 p.m., on Friday, and a game against Duquesne University on Saturday, 11 a.m.

Before hitting the road again, Eastern returns to Ypsilanti for a one-game set against Michigan State University on Monday, September 16 at 7 p.m.

Before beginning MAC play, the Eagles will head southwest to Fort Wayne, Ind. for their final regular-season tournament of 2024 with the Purdue Fort Wayne Invitational presented by Hyatt Place Friday-Saturday, Sept. 20-21. Eastern is scheduled to play a three-game schedule in Indy, first against Indiana State University Friday, 4:30 p.m. EMU will play two games on Saturday, first taking on Saint Francis University (Pa.) at 1:30 p.m. before taking on tournament host Purdue Fort Wayne later that day at 7 p.m.

The Eagles will face the Golden Flashes of Kent State University to open MAC play, with games on consecutive days in Kent, Ohio, Thursday through Friday, September 26 and 27. Both games will kick off at 6 p.m.

Next, EMU heads to state for a rival matchup against Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant on Tuesday, October 1 at 6 p.m.

The Eagles will play back-to-back games against Miami University, first taking on the RedHawks in their hometown of Ypsilanti on Friday, October 4 at 6:00 p.m. before playing again the following day at 3:00 p.m.

Bowling Green State University follows the RedHawks ahead of the Eagles as they make a quick pit stop in Bowling Green for a 6:00 p.m. game against the Falcons on Thursday, October 10, before crossing I-75 for a game against the University of Toledo Rockets the following day, October 11, at 6:00 p.m.

After returning from Ohio, EMU will play four home games for the season, from October 17-26. Eastern will first take on the Huskies of Northern Illinois University on Thursday, October 17 at 6:00 p.m., followed by a rival game with reigning MAC regular season and tournament champion Western Michigan University on Friday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m.

The Ohio Bobcats travel to Ypsilanti for the final two games of Eastern’s homestand. The first game between the two institutions will be on Friday, October 25 at 6:00 p.m., with the second on Saturday, October 26 at 4:00 p.m.

Eastern will open the month of November with a pair of matches against Ball State University, Friday-Saturday, Nov. 1-2. Friday’s match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first serve, while Saturday’s match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

EMU will play three of its final five regular season games at home. The Eagles will play CMU for the second time in 2024 when they welcome the Chippewas to Ypsilanti on Tuesday, Nov. 5, with a 6 p.m. kickoff.

Following the CMU game are two games against the University of Akron Zips, Friday-Saturday, November 8-9. Friday’s game starts at 6 p.m. and Saturday’s game starts at 4 p.m.

The Eagles close out the 2024 regular season in Western New York with a pair of games against the University at Buffalo on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 15-16. Friday’s first service is at 6 p.m., and the final regular-season game begins at 4 p.m.

Eastern will begin its postseason campaign with the MAC Tournament, Friday-Monday, Nov. 22-25. The location has yet to be determined, as the regular-season winner will host the tournament. The Eagles last made the tournament in the 2018 season, when they emerged as champions after beating Miami 3-2 in five sets.
