Nikola Jokić has won three NBA MVP awards and an NBA championship, but you could argue he’s never been happier than after leading Serbia to a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympics.

Jokić and the Serbian team celebrated their 93-83 victory over Germany on Saturday by singing and dancing on the team bus.

After failing to qualify for the 2020 Olympics, Serbia returned to the field this year after finishing second at the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Jokić took a break from the Serbian team after the 2019 FIBA World Cup. He played a phenomenal tournament for his home country, leading all players in points, rebounds, assists and steals after the bronze medal game.

Jokić also became the fourth player in Olympic history to record a triple-double. He finished with 19 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists in 38 minutes against Germany. The 29-year-old has finished one assist short of a triple-double on two other occasions in the tournament.

Overall, Jokić averaged 18.8 points, 10.7 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game in six starts at the 2024 Olympics.

Serbia is currently the number 4 team in the FIBA world rankings. You could argue that this group is the second best at the Olympics, after the United States, but because of the way the brackets were set up, those two teams faced each other in the semifinals.

Team USA had to overcome a 17-point deficit against Serbia in the semifinals. It would be the first time the U.S. had lost in the knockout round of the Olympics since 2004 and only the second time they had lost in the Olympics since 2008.

Serbia has won a medal at two of the last three Olympic Games, winning a silver medal in 2016. It is the third time since 1992 that the Serbs have won a medal.
