Much of the attention for the Chicago Bears this season will be focused on rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, but perhaps fans should turn their attention elsewhere.

Something like the very important reason why long snapper Patrick Scales raised his Madden rating.

The Bears posted a funny video on Monday in which Scales responded to his 31 overall rating in Madden 25. The veteran said, “I’ve personally been a victim of a low Madden rating.”

He continued: “The reason I finally wanted to tell my story is so the world can get to know the real me. I’m more than just my Madden rating. I’m a human being.”

While the video ending with the message #RaisePatsMaddenRating is clearly tongue-in-cheek, 31 is an alarmingly low total. Sure, long snappers never get much love in Madden games that revolve around quarterbacks and skill position players, but he’s been a fixture for the Bears for years.

In fact, Scales has not missed a single game in his last seven seasons with Chicago.

That’s a good thing, because you wouldn’t want to know what his Madden rating would be if he missed a few games.
