Dave Schmulenson, the man known colloquially as “The Schmo,” interviewed some big names backstage and in the locker room at Amalie Arena immediately following Paul’s TKO victory. One of them was Tyron Woodley. When the former UFC welterweight was asked to weigh in on Pereira’s call-up, his words sent shockwaves through the fight community.

Woodley seemed to believe it was a call for the UFC boss. After all, he was the only one who could make the fight happen. ‘Pereira’ still has a contract to fight under the UFC banner. This was previously emphasized by Darren to when he elected himself president opponent for ‘The Problem Child’.

The former UFC champion believed“I mean, I think it was more of a Dana call, you know. We all know as a champion, every time you win a belt and defend it, your contract is up at the end of the year. He knows that only Dana can make that happen. So, if he calls and he wants it and Pereira wants it, we saw him on Facetime, then it’s up to Dana to make this fight happen. So, I think it was more of that than anything.”

Without a doubt, the fight will not take place without White’s permission. Of course, the man with the hands of stone has a fight in negotiations where he is supposed to take on Magomed Ankalaev in his next title defense. But when he is ready to fight Paul in the square ring, fight fans are in for a treat.
