U13 Predators win silver at ‘A’ Provincials, highest achievement in PA Box Lacrosse history

“We were up against a strong Regina team in the final, they had been undefeated all year. We started off really strong against them and ended up losing 5-3, but we played well. We closed the gap to Regina from the beginning of the year – we were down six or seven goals and that last game we only lost by two, even just to be in the gold medal game was a huge win for us.”

Despite the poor end to the year, Bexson told his players after the game that they had no reason to hang their heads.

“While it’s hard to lose in a gold medal match, a silver medal is also not to be sneezed at and we can be proud that you were in that match and played so well.”

After the season in the Sask U13 ‘A’ Box Lacrosse League, the Preds finished second out of four teams with a record of 10-5.

As for the other North Sask. teams playing at the U15 and U17 levels, the U15 Predators lost in their bronze medal game to Regina, while the U17s took bronze after a loss in their play-in game to Saskatoon.

While the Box ‘A’ Provincials are now over, the Box House Provincials have only just begun.

Teams from across the province in the U13, U15 and U17 age groups are in Prince Albert this weekend to compete for provincial glory. Games will be played at Kinsmen Arena and Dave G. Steuart Arena, with a champion crowned on Sunday.
