Today in professional wrestling history: On July 19, 1961, just weeks after winning the AWA World title from Verne Gagne on July 11, Gene Kiniski captured the AWA World Tag Team title with Hard Boiled Haggerty.

With this victory, Kiniski now held the Tag Title, AWA US Title and AWA World Heavyweight Title simultaneously and established his dominance in the Minnesota territory.

REMARK: Kiniski holds another important historical distinction. He is the only man to hold both the NWA and AWA World Heavyweight titles.
