The Canadian chases Tadej Pogačar’s KOMs

Tadej Pogačar may win the Tour de France, but on Strava? Canadian Theo De Groote just took his crown.

Pogačar earned a few more crowns on his little tour of France, and a handful of stage wins too. But Pitoro parte centrale? That Italian KOM now belongs to De Groote.

Tadej Pogačar: ‘Who marked me on Strava?’

The 20-year-old Canadian, who rides for Bridge Bike Works, averaged a whopping 613 watts in 2:01 to take the crown. His average speed of 29.3 km/h on the climb was seven seconds faster than Pogačar’s 2021 record.

The average 7 percent gradient, roughly a kilometer long, isn’t one of Pogačar’s most famous segments on Strava, or his longest. But still, how many people can say they’ve taken a KOM from Tadej Pogačar?
