Tanzim Sakib is fined for his misconduct in the match against Nepal

DHAKA, June 19, 2024 (BSS) – Bangladesh pace bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib was fined 15 percent of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during their T20 World Cup 2024 Group D match against Nepal at the Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown in St. . Vincent and the Grenadines on Sunday.

Tanzim was found to have breached the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which covers “inappropriate physical contact with a player, player support staff, referee, match referee or any other person (including a spectator during an international match).” The breach is considered a Level 1 violation.

In addition, one penalty point has been added to Tanzim’s disciplinary file, for whom this was the first offense in a 24-month period.

The incident took place at the end of the third over of Nepal’s innings when Tanzim, after bowling a delivery, aggressively walked towards Nepali batsman Rohit Paudel and made inappropriate physical contact.

Tanzim admitted the offense and accepted the sanction suggested by Richie Richardson of the Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

On-field referees Ahsan Raza and Sam Nogajski, third referee Jayaraman Madanagopal and fourth referee Kumar Dharmasena leveled the attack.

Level 1 offenses carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 percent of a player’s match fee and one or two demerit points.
