Super League: Huddersfield Giants 0-66 Warrington Wolves

Wire opened the scoring after King fed the ball to England international Ashton and fired the ball into the corner.

Scrumhalf Williams then played a great ball to Ashton, who scored his own and Wire’s second goal.

Ashton thought he had scored his hat-trick within 20 minutes, but the TMO ruled he had only been touched by a great tackle from Giants’ Tui Lolohea.

Danny Walker fired the ball beautifully behind the Huddersfield defence and Wire was given a 40/20 score, giving Ben Currie the chance to fire the ball superbly to the oncoming James Harrington, who blasted the ball under the post.

England captain Williams then dived over the side of the posts to give Wire a 24-point lead after half an hour.

Nicholson, who is moving to the Canberra Raiders, scored his first goal of the game after breaking through the Giants’ weak defence and firing over the goal. Two minutes later, a series of errors from the Giants’ Lolohea and Aidan McGowan allowed Taylor-Wray to score his first.

Five minutes into the second half, Giants’ 19-year-old Jack Billington, making his debut, was sent to the penalty box for 10 minutes for a high tackle.

In his absence, Thewlis found his way through the Giants defence to score a well-deserved try, playing superbly with the boot, scoring nine goals in total.

Ashton then completed his hat-trick, with teenage sensation Taylor-Wray netting his second goal of the game.

Five minutes later Toby King was too strong for the Giants defence as he went over his old club to score his ninth try of the Super League season.

Nicholson then crossed over Wire for his second, after which Tai raced forward from deep and rolled across the line alone to complete the scoring in a great team performance.
