For many, the Tokyo Olympics may not feel that long ago, but the upcoming Summer Games have fans in a frenzy. Track & Field Gazette added to the excitement by posting a countdown to X. They captioned it: “10 DAYS LEFT until the start of the Olympic Games in Paris 2024!!🤗16 days left until the start of Athletics…📸@Paris2024While many were beside themselves with how close we were, the majority of them couldn’t help but be overjoyed at how stunning the purple tracks of the Stade de France looked.

Is the new Paris Olympics track and field arena the most stunning ever? Comment!

Why is this surprising? Most courts are often the conventional red brick clay color, blue and sometimes even orange. When the first modern Olympic Games were held in Athens in 1896, the courts were almost an ash gray cinder. However, despite the various changes over the years, many have always seen iconic moments from various Summer Games on the iconic red court. Since there were no rules when it came to the color, the organizing committee went with a striking shade of purple. But why purple, you ask?

You are not alone. Many have wondered why they would continue with this color. The answer is quite simple. The biggest part of the job was to come up with a song that was different from what we had seen so far, to keep the creative approach that the organizing committee has taken since its inception, to step a little outside the box,” Alain Blondel, the sports director in charge of athletics for Paris 2024, told Olympics.com. Besides being visually striking, the track is truly special in other ways. Made from a new generation of granules that are more cohesive, it will help reduce an athlete’s energy loss.

The committee has further optimized the track for what they believe will be better results for athletes and spectators. They have added a central sand pit for the long jump and triple jump. There will also be an additional ninth lane for the sprint events. We had to put this jump in the middle and we’re going to try to make it a highlight. For the athletes, there will be a really visible runway, so they have the impression that they’re running in a corridor.Blondel stated that this placement will also provide a perfect view for everyone in the stands.
