It is possible for Ireland to take over from the Springboks at the top of the standings after the Pretoria Test.

For that to happen, Ireland would have to win by 16 or more points. That would give them 2.53 points, while the Springboks would lose a similar number.

If Ireland wins with 15 or less points, they will gain 1.69 points (and the Springboks would lose 1.69 points), but that would not be enough to see a change at the top.

a to draw Ireland would win by 0.69 points (and the Springboks would lose the same amount).

A victory through 1-15 points for the Springboks, Rassie Erasmus’ men would add 0.31 points to their total, while victory with 16 or more points South Africa would gain 0.47 points.

In total, Rassie Erasmus’ men will play 13 times this year.
