Sheffield Wednesday fans wearing fake shirts could be ‘asked to leave Hillsborough’

In a statement titled ‘brand protection’, the club said the sale of counterfeit shirts ‘could have a direct impact on the club’s revenue’ and that official club merchandise can be purchased from the Owls Megastore or online shop.

“While we cannot prohibit supporters from wearing counterfeit shirts outside Hillsborough, we kindly request that such products are not displayed inside the stadium,” the statement read.

The Owls begin their championship campaign at home to Plymouth on Sunday (16:00 BST).
