September 5th is a holiday that all of New Jersey should celebrate

If you’re like me, you don’t even realize how important Thursday is. As a born and raised New Jerseyan, I’m embarrassed.

Anyone who has lived in the Garden State for more than a week knows how passionate we are about our pizza. Did you know that Thursday, September 5th is National Cheese Pizza Day?

Held on September 5th, it’s a day to celebrate what I consider perfect food. Some people (including my broadcasting partner, Jeff Deminski) argue that a slice of pizza needs some sort of topping, but I say, if it ain’t broke…don’t fix it.

Dave Portnoy of Barstool Sports recently did his famous “One Bite Pizza Reviews” at various pizzerias in the Garden State, and he always reviews the joint’s plain slice. If it’s good enough for “El Presidente,” it’s good enough for me.

While I’m on the subject of plain cheese pizza, did you know that in 1997 the United States produced an estimated two billion pounds of pizza cheese?

Two billion pounds!

Take that, haters. In my eyes, that’s something to celebrate.

The National Day Calendar offers several options:

🍕 Order or bake your own cheese pizza.
🍕 Try a new recipe.
🍕 Host a cheese pizza party. Invite friends over to make their favorite cheese pizzas and enjoy each other’s company.
🍕 You can even try to break a world record. Make the biggest cheese pizza or the thinnest.

Before you party, let me know in this poll if I’m weird for liking plain pizza:

New Jersey Picks Their Favorite Pizza Places

Pizza is one of, if not the hottest topic in the Garden State. Everyone has a place they’re loyal to and they always think it’s better than your favorite place. Bill Spadea spent a few hours fielding calls from listeners telling him where the absolute best pizzerias in New Jersey are. Here’s some of what they came up with.
