Second Edition Sishu Mitra Champion Awards Event Held at Assam Police Institute

Guwahati (Assam) (India), July 21 (ANI): The second edition of the Assam Police Sishu Mitra Champion Awards programme was held at the Assam Police Institute (Police Officers Mess) in Ulubari on Sunday.
Assam DGP GP Singh presented the award to 27 police officers from across the state to recognise and promote the exceptional work of police officers who achieve success in cases relating to children.
Besides, the Superintendent of Guwahati Medical College Hospital, the Nodal Officer for the SC/ST(PoA) Act and the Special Public Prosecutor of the Kamrup Metro Special POCSO Court were also honoured in a special recognition category.
This award is part of the Assam Police’s Sishu Mitra programme, one of the largest child-friendly police programmes in India.
The Assam Police Sishu Mitra programme is implemented by the Assam Police, with technical support from UNICEF and UTSAH Child Rights Organisation.
Harmeet Singh, Special DGP (HQ), was the coordinator of the Assam Police Sishu Mitra programme.

Earlier, from June 24 to 30, Assam Police organised the prestigious All India Police Sports – ‘Judo Cluster 2024’ in Guwahati, under the aegis of All India Police Sports Board.
The tournament saw the participation of 40 teams from the State Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) from across India, competing in major martial arts disciplines.
The opening ceremony was held on June 24 at the Karmabeer Nabin Ch. Bordoloi Indoor Stadium in Sarusajai and marked the beginning of an exciting week of sporting excellence. Assam Director General of Police GP Singh was present as the guest of honour.
In the Judo Cluster five major martial arts were presented: Wushu, Taekwondo, Judo, Karate and Pencak Silat.
The competition was held at two prominent venues in Guwahati: Karmabeer Nabin Chandra Bordoloi Indoor Stadium in Sarusajai will host Taekwondo, Wushu and Karate. Meanwhile, Judo and Pencak Silat took place at Bhogeswari Phukanoni Indoor Stadium in Dispur.
The event’s iconic mascot, Luit, was unveiled during the opening ceremony on Monday.
With over 1,500 participants from all corners of India, players showcased their exceptional skills and engaged in a vibrant competition, embodying the true essence of sportsmanship. (ANI)
