Ryan Garcia was suspended for a year and forfeited $1 million

Mercurial boxer Ryan Garcia’s week has added another twist.

A day after announcing on social media that he had “officially retired,” Garcia has been suspended for one year by the New York State Athletic Commission, according to ESPN.

Garcia, 25, will also have to forfeit the $1 million he won in his majority decision victory against Golden Boy – which is now shaping up to be a no-contest – over WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney at Barclays Center in April.

Garcia has also been fined $10,000 by NYSAC.

The fighter tested positive for the performance-enhancing drug ostarine both the day before and the day of his fight with Haney, ESPN reported in May.

His B sample later in May also came back positive for the PED.

Minutes after news of his suspension broke Thursday, Garcia addressed X with a few things, including a profanity-filled post.

“F-k you crying baby bitch,” he captioned a photo of him punching Haney during their April 20 fight.

“They took away my victory,” Garcia wrote in another post.

Haney posted on X about the suspension, calling it “the right thing.”

“Thanks also to the committee for doing the right thing and making the right decision,” he wrote on Thursday afternoon. “I don’t understand how Golden Boy gets money like they took hits. They haven’t even spoken out about this PED situation.

“I’ll be back in a year. I already had all the belts,” he added. “From now on, I will fight at whatever weight I choose, no longer against one weight classes.

Haney added that he felt like he was being “cheated.”

It’s been a hectic few weeks for Garcia since the victory in Brooklyn, after he was arrested in early June for allegedly causing property damage – of at least $15,000 – at the Waldorf Astoria in Beverly Hills, California.

Now it remains unclear when – or if – he will fight again.
