Report: Shane McMahon contacts AEW wrestlers about joining the company

Could Shane McMahon actually join All Elite Wrestling?

AEW’s Jim Ross discussed the prospect of McMahon appearing in the promotion of a recent edition of his Grilling JR podcast, noting that the idea was “so crazy it could work.” However, in an update, Ross’ co-host Conrad Thompson revealed that he received a text from a friend claiming that Shane McMahon has actually contacted AEW talent about hypothetically joining the promotion.

“There was a friend of ours. He went out of his way to text me, ‘Hey, that’s not as crazy as you think. I’m sure Shane McMahon has been contacting wrestlers on the AEW roster to get on at least hypothetically discuss the idea,” Thompson said on Grilling JR.

Whether the rumors about Shane McMahon joining the company go beyond a few texts about hypothetical scenarios is unknown. The 54-year-old has not appeared on a pro wrestling program since suffering a torn quadriceps in an impromptu match against The Miz at WrestleMania 39 in 2023.

WWE has undergone massive changes since then with its merger with UFC, Triple H’s reinstatement as head of creative, and Vince McMahon’s forced resignation as TKO’s executive chairman, leaving Shane’s future with the company unknown. However, WWE director Bruce Prichard did not rule out Shane returning to WWE in November 2023.
