Red Bull Back Line Mersin Qualifiers Completed


Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, continuing its efforts to promote Mersin as a sports city, continues its support for sports. In this context, the Mersin qualifiers of the Red Bull Back Line Tournament, organized with the contributions of the Metropolitan Municipality, have been completed.

The tournament, which was held at the Babil Republic Center and lasted for 2 days, witnessed competitive matches. The tournament, where 10 teams competed on the first day and 16 teams on the second day, was held with the participation of a total of 156 athletes. In the tournament where the competition reached the highest level; first day; Atom Enerji and the national team, and on the second day, the teams Mersin Mix and Çileler made their name to the final. The finalist teams will compete for the first place in the final of Red Bull Back Line Türkiye, which will be played in Istanbul on July 28.

Bilici: “We had a great event for 2 days with the participation of 26 teams and 156 athletes.”

Red Bull Back Line Mersin Manager Egemen Bilici stated that they completed the Mersin qualifiers with the contributions of the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality and said: “We held a nice event with a total of 2 athletes and 156 teams for 26 days. All the people of Mersin came to watch. It was a nice event with the participation of families and children. We are very happy to be in Mersin. All our 4 finalists here will compete in the final which will be held in Istanbul on July 28. “We will receive them there,” he said.

Cerit: “We are very happy to organize such a tournament in Mersin”

Halit Cerit, Secretary of Mersin Volleyball Provincial Referee Council, expressed his joy in organizing such a tournament in Mersin and said: “Official referees from the Turkish Volleyball Federation will be present during the tournament. The FIVB rules of the game apply to the competitions, but since it is street volleyball, the rules have been relaxed by Red Bull. “Competitions are played within the framework of those rules,” he said. Cerit gave information about the tournament and said: “2 teams play with 4 people each. The court of the team that wins the set moves 1 meter inward and the court plays in a small area. “You are in an advantageous position because the area you have to protect becomes smaller,” he said.

156 athletes competed fiercely for 2 days for the final in Istanbul

Athlete Atakan Batmanlı, who came from Adana for the tournament, said that their first match was very good and said: “Our goal in this tournament was to go to Istanbul, play in the grand final and become champions. It was very nice. We did not prepare for the tournament, but we are all athletes. We have been playing volleyball for 9 years. We play professionally in competitions. “We are all experienced,” he said.

Tutku Atay stated that he participated in the tournament to have fun with his friends, saying: “We wanted to play sports together and have fun. I play in the university league, but there were people in our team who had never played before. “There were some tough opponents,” he said.

Burak Tatar, one of the athletes who participated in the event from Ankara, stated that they finished 2nd in Turkey last year and said: “We are assertive this year too. The atmosphere here is very nice. “I found the 2-day organization very successful,” he said.

Another athlete, Eren Demiralay, who participated in the tournament from Ankara, said it was his first time in Mersin and said: “This is the first time I participate in the competition. There are many places for sports activities in Mersin. I had some stressful moments in the match, the ball came and went, but I went with the flow of the music. “It was a pleasant environment when I was with my friends,” he said.

Citizens enjoyed watching the tournament

Yaren Şahin said that she really enjoyed the event and that it was the first time she saw such an event in Mersin. She said: “First of all, we had a lot of fun. We are the first team that qualified to go to Istanbul. We finished first as a national team. It is one of the most beautiful events that Mersin has ever seen. “I would like to thank our Metropolitan Municipality for bringing such an organization to our city and giving us such an opportunity,” he said.

Atak Özer, who came to the event with his family and friends, said: “We love playing and watching volleyball. “Such events add color to Mersin and our city needs such events,” he said.

Gizem Mete, who came to watch the event with her friends, said: “I was one of the participants, but we were eliminated in our first match. We didn’t have a professional team. It was a completely different experience. We came here to watch the matches with our friends. There are people among us who have nothing to do with volleyball, but they enjoyed it immensely. It added joy to our Sunday. “It was a very nice organization,” he said.

Emirhan Koçak said: “Especially the last match was great. Such a beautiful coastal city like Mersin needs this. There was a nice audience. “We had fun and enjoyed ourselves with our friends,” he said.
