Ponoka Stampede: Fun for the whole family on Kids Day

If your family can only make it to one day of the Ponoka Stampede, make it Friday, June 28th.

The annual Ponoka Stampede Parade, an annual family favorite, winds through downtown Ponoka beginning at 10 a.m.

After the procession of horses, carriages, clowns, marching bands and vehicles is over, there will be time to grab some lunch and head to the Stampede Grounds.

Whether you’re a longtime rodeo fan or you’re introducing your children to the sport for the first time, Kids Day at the Ponoka Stampede is a great opportunity to take the whole family to an afternoon rodeo performance.

Children 12 and under are free, but tickets for the 1 p.m. performance must be reserved.

The Junior Roughstock Competition will also take place on Friday afternoon.

Take the chance to spend a few hours exploring the midway before the chuckwagons start. Children may enjoy watching the Kids Wild Pony Races and the Flying Cross Jockey Derby between heats.

During Stampede Week, fireworks are set off every evening after dark.
