PFL 5’s Clay Collard on Potential Justin Gaethje Super Fight: ‘He’s Getting Beat Up’

Professional Fighters League (PFL) vs. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) continues!

Clay Collard headlines PFL 5 tomorrow night (Friday, June 20, 2024) at Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, in conversation with former Bellator MMA contender, Mads Burnellhoping to secure a spot in the promotion’s 2024 PFL Playoffs.

Every time Collard competes in PFL’s smart cage, the broadcast mentions that Collard is “the most exciting fighter in all of mixed martial arts (MMA).” Naturally, most MMA fans (rightly) respond with it Justin Gaethje.

MMAmania.com asked Collard how a superfight with Gaethje would go.

“I think my hands are a little cleaner than his,” Collard said during PFL 5 media day. “I think he’s going to get a little reckless… and he’s going to get beat up.”

Indeed, a fight between Collard and Gaethje is a complete fantasy at this point as the two promotions will never cross paths, according to the UFC CEO. Dana White; however, it’s certainly fun to think about.

Moreover, the two have one thing in common: both are ready Max Holloway. Collard made his brief Octagon debut against Holloway in 2014, while Gaethje got laid by the Hawaiian at UFC 300 in one of the best fights ever (watch highlights).

Collard currently sits second in the 2024 PFL Lightweight Rankings with five points and is one win away from a return to the PFL Playoffs later this year (August). And he has home field advantage: Collard is from Utah.
