Paris 2024 Olympic Games, live updates day 4, Australians in action, news, schedule, blog, women’s rugby sevens, Jessica Fox, hockey,

It’s a big day for the Australians in Paris, with the women’s rugby sevens team taking on Canada in a monster semi-final (midnight AEST). The winner will play the winner of the other semi-final (NZ vs USA) for gold at 3.45am, following the bronze medal match at 3am AEST.

Elsewhere, flag bearer Jessica Fox will be hoping to add to her gold medal in kayaking (K-1) when she defends her gold medal in the C-1 (canoe) class in two heats at 11pm and 1:10am AEST.

As always there is plenty of action in the pool, we will keep a separate live blog for all the action.

The Boomers will be hoping for two wins out of two games when they take on a tough Canadian team at 9:30 p.m. We’ll be reporting on that in a separate live blog too!

Later at 3.45am, our men’s hockey team, the Aussie Kookaburras, will take on Belgium in their third group stage match, after winning two games so far. It’s a top match in Group B and one to watch, as Belgium also won their first two games.

Furthermore, Belgium defeated Australia in a dramatic penalty shootout in the gold medal match in Tokyo, and the Aussies lost both games against the European giants earlier this year – including another penalty shootout with heartbreaking effect.

There’s an all-Aussie showdown in surfing, with Ethan Ewing taking on Jack Robinson in the quarter-finals at 3am, with the winner potentially going on to medal contention later in the morning. And women’s surfing is also expected to resume after the third round was postponed yesterday.

There is bad news for triathlon fans – and Australian duo Matthew Hauser and Luke Willian. The men’s triathlon, which was due to start at 4pm AEST, has been postponed by a day due to poor water quality in the Seine.
