No. 1 Tie-Down Roper Shad Mayfield races to a second straight Reno Rodeo title

A 10.1 second run in Round 1 would become Shad Mayfield’s slowest time in Reno by two and a half seconds. He would be the definition of consistency in Round 2 and the Short Go to bring his time to 25.2 seconds in three heads.

“First of all, I want to give all the glory to God. I wouldn’t be here without him, but you can’t back out of that. I knew I had a really good calf and a lot of horsepower, so that made it easy,” Mayfield said.

He backed into the box and had to be 9 seconds or faster in the Short Go. Mayfield set the clock at 7.6 seconds.

Mayfield was No. 1 overall by two seconds, while Shane Hanchey was 27.2 and Cole Clemons rounded out the Top 3 in Reno.
