NCAA Rewind: Georgetown Shows Stability While Maximizing Its Roster

Before USA Lacrosse Magazine looks ahead to what’s to come in 2025 (look for our NCAA Way-Too-Early Top 25 rankings later this summer), our team of staff and contributors decided it was worth taking one last look at the 2024 college lacrosse season.

To do that, we’re taking a trip to 30 of the best teams in men’s and women’s lacrosse to see what went right, what went wrong, and how we should look back on the season.

GEORGETOWN

USA Lacrosse pre-season/final standings: No. 12/No. 8
Record year 2024: 13-4 (4-1 Big East)

What went well: Graham Bundy Jr. (37 goals, 13 assists) became the first player in program history to have four 30-goal seasons. Aidan Carroll had an old-fashioned breakthrough in his senior year, sharing the team lead in goals with Bundy and adding 23 assists. TJ Haley continued to be an exceptional feeder (40 assists), while Princeton grad transfer Alexander Vardaro (31 G, 18 A) was a valuable addition to the midfield.

Yale transfer James Ball (.592) had a convincing answer on faceoffs, and freshman goalie Anderson Moore (.512 save percentage) earned the Big East’s freshman player of the year award.

And of course, Georgetown, like North Carolina (1989-94), was the only Division I program to win six consecutive conference tournaments. They defeated Providence and Villanova to reach the NCAA Tournament again as a No. 8 seed.
