Mitchell’s Dayton Adams, Katie Morgan Lead Local Players at USTA Event – Mitchell Republic

BROOKINGS — Two of Mitchell’s tennis players delivered top performances Saturday and Sunday at the Brookings Junior Open, a USTA tournament.

Dayton Adams won the 18-and-under boys singles competition and was second in the 16-and-under boys singles competition. Adams played JV for Mitchell High School in 2024.

Katie Morgan and Sioux Falls’ Angels Ge tied for second place in the 18-and-under girls’ doubles competition, and Morgan also took second place in the girls’ 16-and-under singles competition. In the singles, Morgan defeated the No. 1 seed in her semifinal match, 9-7, to advance to the final.

The Mitchell Tennis Association will host its annual Take the Cake Tennis Tournament on August 3 and 4 as its next home competition. The event will feature doubles on Saturday and singles on Sunday.
