Meet the 2024 Daily News Girls Outdoor Track & Field All-Star Team Members

After reviewing statistics and results, and with guidance from local athletic directors and coaches, the Daily News selected All-Stars for baseball, softball, boys’ and girls’ lacrosse, boys’ and girls’ tennis, boys’ and girls’ track and field, boys’ and girls’ volleyball, and rugby.

While the sports and skill sets may differ, there’s no denying that this group has produced out-of-this-world results this spring as they help their respective teams achieve success — whether that was on the court, court or field.

Without further ado, the Daily News presents the 2024 Girls Outdoor Track and Field All-Stars:

Haley Bilodeau, Blackstone Valley Tech

The junior set a Division 3 meet record in the 400-meter hurdles, capturing the division title in 1 minute, 4.3 seconds. She also won a professional state title in the event and placed second at the District E championships and fifth at the Meet of Champions.

Alice Brambati, Hopkinton

The senior won the Division 2 championship in the triple jump at 36 feet, one inch. She also placed third in the long jump (17-3.5) and fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.86).

Annie Comella, Wellesley

The junior won the Division 1 100-meter dash in 12.23 seconds and the 200 in 24.88. She added silver in the long jump (18 feet, 4.5 inches). She found the podium at the Meet of Champions in the long jump (18-1.25).

Lily Deforge, Franklin

The senior who went to Holy Cross threw everything well. She won the discus at the Division 1 state championships and placed third in the shot put. Deforge also placed second at the Meet of Champions in the discus. She medaled at the Hockomock Championships in the shot put (first) and discus (second), and is competing at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in both events. Deforge holds the school records in both the discus (134-0) and shot put (41-3).

‘It’s a big community’: Franklin High track and field throwers set state records

The senior, who will attend Holy Cross, sprinted to a Division 1 gold medal in the 100-meter dash in 11.93 seconds. She placed third in the 200 at the Meet of Champions (24.6) and anchored the Flyers’ winning 4×400 relay (3:54.44).

Sarah Dumas, Franklin

The Hockomock MVP is a four-time All-American after taking third place in the New Balance Outdoor Nationals Heptathlon. The Penn-bound senior also won the MIAA Meet of Champions 100 hurdles in a meet-record 14.27 seconds after taking gold in the Division 1 pentathlon, 400 hurdles (1:03.26) and 100 hurdles (14.29). Dumas holds the Panthers school records in the pentathlon and heptathlon.

Emmanuella Edozien, Natick

The sophomore set the MSTCA Freshman/Sophomore meet record in the 100-meter hurdles at 14.71 seconds and went on to set the Redhawks school record at 14.53. She placed second in the D1 100 hurdles (14.53) and third in the 100 dash (12.38). Edozien competed at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals. “There’s no one else I’ve coached who can pick up an event so easily. Emmi has that natural ability to take a new event and master it almost immediately,” said Natick coach Tori Zamara-Dixon. “This girl has a bright future ahead of her on the track.”

Savannah Gao, Hudson

The senior, who will attend Boston University, finished second in Division 5 in both the javelin (119-08) and discus (118-07). The Mid-Wach C all-star is a three-time league champion in the javelin and added one in the discus this spring. Gao broke her own school record in the javelin with a throw of 133-2, two feet above the previous record.

Elizabeth Hopkins, Franklin

The Panthers’ all-time leading javelin thrower holds the school record at 139-6. She won the Division 1 championship (137-2) and placed third at the Meet of Champions. Hopkins qualified for the New Balance Outdoor Nationals and won titles at the Hockomock League Meet and MSTCA Twilight Meet. She will compete at UMass next season.

Josie Hopkins, Hopkinton

She won the Division 2 pentathlon and was third in the 100 hurdles (15.67). Hopkins won eight at the Meet of Champions pentathlon. She added a 400 hurdles championship at the TVL showcase and competed on the Hillers’ second-place 4×100 relay. She contributed to three medal-winning teams on the MSTCA Division 2 relays.

Charity Johnson, Medway

She broke two Mustangs school records as a senior. She won the Division 5 discus with a meet record throw of 130 feet. Her best of the year was 132-9. The previous record was set 45 years ago. In the shot put, Johnson captured a D5 title at 38 feet. She competed at the Meet of Champions (fourth in discus) and New England Championships (third in discus, 11e in the shot put). Johnson was a TVL All-Star and Medway’s Field MVP.

She won a silver medal at the Meet of Champions in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in 14.67 seconds. Labelle also helped the Titans win the championship in the 4×100 relay. That followed gold medals at the Division 2 meet in the 100 hurdles (14.57) and 4×100 (48.86). LaBelle also placed second in the 400 hurdles (1:04.12).

The sophomore won a silver medal in the 800 meters at the Meet of Champions in 2:12.94. Lamakina was also a contributor to the Flyers’ winning 4×400-meter relay. She also reached the podium twice at the Division 1 meet, where she finished fourth in the 400 meters (58.23) and sixth in the 800 meters (2:16.25).

Gabrielle Pierre, Lincoln-Sudbury

She capped a star-making junior season with a New Balance Outdoor national championship in the triple jump at 42 feet, 2 1/4 inches. She also placed 10th in the long jump at New Balance Nationals, with a leap of 19-6.25. Pierre captured the all-state title (40-1) and the Division 1 championship in the triple jump, setting the nation’s No. 2 record at 43-0. That was also a state record. She also won the long jump at all-states (19-7.75) and placed seventh in the 100-meter hurdles.

Charlotte Tuxbury, Wellesley

The junior crossed the finish line second in the mile at the Meet of Champions (4:51.13) and was fourth in the 800 (2:13.22). She also led Wellesley’s second-place 4×800 relay (9:12.71). Tuxbury set the Division 2 meet record in the mile, winning in 4:54.56. She also added a title in the two miles (11:08.08) and led the first-place 4×8 (9:30.49).

Katelyn Winchester, Westborough

She rose above the rest in the pole vault. The senior won the Division 3 state title (10 feet, 7 inches) and the Mid-Watch A championship, then finished sixth in the Meet of Champions. “Katelyn was an outstanding performer as both an athlete and a leader. She did everything she could to push her teammates to be better,” Westborough coach Matt Wilson said.
