Marvel Animation Reveals Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’s Norman Osborn, Marvel Zombies Footage | D23 2024

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and Marvel Zombies made an appearance at D23 2024 to show off new footage and reveal some classic Marvel characters that will be appearing in both shows.

The former perhaps received the most new details, as Marvel Animation promised that the animated Disney+ series will feature characters like Doctor Strange, Doctor Octopus, Doctor Conners, and more, as viewers get to see a new take on Peter Parker. This version of Spider-Man won’t be accompanied by Iron Man, however. Instead, he’ll be watched over by Norman Osborn, who will be played by Euphoria and Candyman star Colman Domingo. It’s the same complicated relationship that Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man aims to explore.

Domingo says he’s following in the footsteps of Green Goblin actor Willem Dafoe, who explores what it means to be a villain.

“I didn’t know much about Norman and I don’t know why I’m drawn to villains — I’m a good person — but I do believe that everyone has the power to transform into some form,” Domingo said. “If you haven’t had enough hugs or love or support, you can go to the dark side. To be a part of the MCU as Norman means everything to me.”

Marvel hints that the Symbiote will also play a role in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, but we’ll have to wait and see what impact it and the many other characters in the series will have on Peter’s life.

Another show still in the works is the upcoming TV-MA spinoff series, Marvel Zombies . Attendees of D23 2024 got an exclusive look at the four-episode show, which reveals a moment where Shang-Chi, Katy, and Xu Wenwu are overrun by a horde of zombies. A time jump then sends the story five years into the future, revealing a Mad Max-esque world that hasn’t survived the apocalypse.

While we wait to see what the rest of D23 2024 has in store, here’s a look at everything Disney announced during last night’s Disney Entertainment Showcase . Afterward, be sure to check out our roundup of all the projects Marvel is working on.
