Liverpool place €30m price tag on Fabio Carvalho

Liverpool have put a price tag of around £30million on Fabio Carvalho after rejecting a bid from Southampton for the 21-year-old.

The Reds have rejected a bid of £15m from the Saints in recent days, with the Merseyside club hoping to receive between £25m and £30m if they part with the youngster.

Sources have said CaughtOffside that Southampton are expected to return with a new bid of €20m/€21m as they look to add Carvalho to their squad ahead of their return to the Premier League.

Liverpool are only open to permanent deals for the forward and are willing to sell the Portuguese star if the asking price matches that of the club.

According to sources, Carvalho’s agents have told Liverpool that the 21-year-old is keen to stay on Merseyside until the 2024/25 season after proving his worth during the Reds’ pre-season tour of the United States.

Arne Slot impressed with Fabio Carvalho during Liverpool’s pre-season tour

Liverpool have been without a number of their big stars in pre-season, giving others the chance to impress their new manager Arne Slot. Carvalho is one of the names who has done just that, having played all three of the Merseyside club’s pre-season games in the United States.

The Portuguese star has shone in games against Arsenal and Manchester United in recent weeks, with the 21-year-old scoring in both matches.

Slot admitted he was impressed with Carvalho’s performances in America, but it remains to be seen what role the forward will play now that the likes of Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez have returned to Liverpool.

The coming weeks will be very important for Carvalho’s future and his development, as it remains to be seen whether clubs will be willing to match the asking price Liverpool are demanding for their talented forward.
