Hours before LeBron James leads Team USA to the gold medal basketball game, the Los Angeles Lakers star gave a shout-out to the U.S. women’s soccer team following their triumph at the 2024 Olympic Games.

James congratulated the US national team immediately after their 1-0 victory over Brazil in the gold medal match at the Parc des Princes in Paris.

Mallory Swanson’s 57th-minute goal proved to be the difference for the United States. It was her fourth goal and seventh point in six games at the Olympics.

Goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher had another phenomenal performance in the win, making four saves, highlighted by an absurd one-handed save on Adriana Leal da Silva’s header in injury time that could have leveled the score.

Saturday’s victory capped one of the best Olympic runs for the United States. It was the country’s first gold medal since 2012 and its fifth overall. It’s only the second time in eight Olympic appearances that the U.S. has finished with a perfect record (6-0-0).

The plus-10 goal differential is tied with 2012 for the U.S.’s best in the Summer Games. Team USA did not allow any opponents to score in three knockout round games.

America has the chance to leave the Paris Games with gold medals in women’s soccer, men’s basketball and women’s basketball, having done so previously in 1996, 2008 and 2012.

The U.S. women’s basketball team will play France in the gold medal game on Sunday. James and the U.S. men will play France for gold on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
