Kisii School watches Rugby 7s title defense

Kisii School is confident of retaining the Kisii County rugby 7s title as the second term of the Kenya Secondary Schools Term Two Games kicks off at Nduru Boys today.

Kisii School head coach Hesborn Chweya said: “We want to continue our dominance and our aim is to win both the provincial and regional titles.”

He said they want to represent the country at the East African Games to be held in Uganda in August. Kisii School is also the 7s champion of the province and Nyanza region.

Pool ‘C’ features Gesero, Nyamache and Rioma Secondary, while hosts Nduru Boys will take on Itierio Boys and Nyamagwa Boys in Pool ‘D’.

The girls rugby 7s, which has been included in the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) calendar for the first time, will feature Nyamagwa, Kereri and Nyangoge in pool ‘A’ and Nyagichence, Rianyanchabera and Rioma in pool ‘B’. . Hema will compete in Group ‘C’ against Bobaracho and Ekerubo.

In boys’ football, defending champions Ndonyo Mixed begin their title defense in Pool ‘D’ against Ongicha and representatives from the Marani sub-region.

Pool ‘A’ contains Mariwa, Sameta Boys and Itumbe, while Pool ‘B’ contains Igonga, Hema and Kebabe SDA. Favorites Nyanchwa Boys play in Pool ‘C’ against Machongo and Nyaginchenche.

In the girls category, defending champions Kerongorori will begin their title defense against Kereri Girls and Geturi in Pool ‘A’, while Nyabisase, Nyabonge and Iranda will battle it out in Pool ‘B’.

In Pool C, St Angelas, Ayora and Nyabigena Girls will compete against each other while Gesero will play Moremani and Keberesi in Pool D.
