Jake Paul has been warned that his fight with Mike Tyson has been cancelled after it was postponed earlier this year.

Paul was supposed to be preparing to take on Tyson this weekend in Texas, but the heavyweight legend pulled out in May after suffering an infected ulcer on a flight from Miami to Los Angeles. The bout has been rescheduled for November 15, but in the meantime, Paul will take on former UFC star Mike Perry this weekend in Florida.

And Perry, who has built a successful career in bare-knuckle boxing, insists he will ruin Paul’s plans to return to the ring against Tyson this fall. “That’s not going to happen,” he told his rival during a face-off ahead of their fight on Saturday night. In response, Paul said: “I take big risks, that’s why I’m putting everything on the line. I don’t stop for anyone, I want to stay active. I’m on my way to becoming a world champion and this is a Mike preview.

“The fight with Mike Tyson is on, but I have to stay active and take out mini Mike here. He’s a violent guy, just like Mike Tyson; he comes out and takes punches. He throws wild punches, just like Mike Tyson, so this is a good little warm-up for me, a Mike appetizer.”

Paul has knocked out his last two opponents in the first round and promised Perry he wouldn’t prolong his pain on Saturday night, predicting a second-round finish. “You don’t have much to look forward to, it’s actually going to be an easy night for you,” he added. “You’re going to fall asleep pretty quickly and wake up feeling richer. It’s a really great night for you.”

Perry responded by recalling his last bare-knuckle fight in which he stopped Thiago Alves in under a minute to extend his undefeated record to 5-0. “My last fight before this… you said it was going to be the fastest fight of my life, but my last fight was 40 seconds against a guy that nobody had beaten and I did it in 40 seconds,” he said. “Nobody had done that to Thiago, not Georges St-Pierre, none of the great fighters he fought, nobody bare-knuckle, nobody hurt him. Forty seconds… I just tapped him on the chin.”
