High surf warning issued for Barnstable County through Thursday evening – 4 to 7 foot waves forecast

At 3:24 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a high surf warning for Barnstable County from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.

According to the weather service, “large waves of 1.20 to 2.10 meters are expected in the surf.”

“Hazardous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion,” the weather service added. “Inexperienced swimmers should stay out of the water due to hazardous surf conditions.”
