Overview

Brisbane has a new golfing hub: South Bank, with Hey Caddy and X-Golf opening on Grey Street. One lets you play around a mini-golf course, the other lets you test your swing on a golf simulator. Both are indoors and share the same space — and whatever your golfing needs, there’s a bar too.

This is Hey Caddy’s second location in Brisbane, after the brand opened in North Lakes in 2022. The mini golf course is an offshoot of X-Golf, so the two are no strangers to each other. This is also Hey Caddy’s third location in Queensland and 10th nationally — and for X-Golf, the third in the city after North Lakes and Enoggera, the eighth in the Sunshine State and the 26th in the country.

Customers can now tap, tap, tap their way through 12 holes and try their swing on five simulators. Hit the bar, hang out in the playing area, grab a bite to eat in the house kitchen and watch sports screens: it’s all offered by the site, in what’s billed as an “indoor golf-entertainment hybrid.”

The goal is to cater to all levels of golfing interest, whether you’re just interested in having fun with your short game, you’re keen to take lessons from PGA-certified coaches or you’re excited by X-Golf’s X-League competition – which competes in local, state and national championships. In addition to playing mini-golf, you can of course also hone or show off your skills on virtual greens.

Gone are the days when Brisbane residents had to head to the Gold Coast for a round of mini golf, but Hey Caddy’s angle lies in the themed holes, which include nods to the Spanish Running of the Bulls, bustling New York streets, tropical vacations in Bora Bora and the like. When the North Lakes location opened, it was joined by Coachella, Nevada’s Area 51, Miami, Egypt, Melbourne and Mars, all of which got a nod.

Hey Caddy also themes its cocktails to its courses, which you can enjoy in the al fresco dining area. The hybrid venue also features party rooms, if that’s your ideal way to gather the gang to commemorate an occasion.
