‘He’s doing a great job of beating himself’… Dustin Poirier lashes out at ‘Muscle Milk Mike’ in fiery tirade after online criticism

UFC fan favorite Dustin Poirier has once again slammed Michael Chandler following a recent online spat between the two. He responded to Chandler’s decision to wait for Conor McGregor.

Since his UFC 303 bout against Conor McGregor was canceled, Michael Chandler has been announcing a number of different fights online, possibly in an attempt to get into the shoes of ‘The Notorious’.

‘Iron’ indicated that he had been offered a lightweight title fight against Islam Makhachev, but that did not sit well with Dustin Poirier, who filed for a rematch against the Russian champion.

Makhachev simply replied, “No thanks,” which amused Chandler. He then added fuel to the fire by telling “The Diamond” to stop.

Chandler’s last fight was against Poirier, who knocked him out in the second round at UFC 281 in 2022. Their rivalry is still going strong.

Dustin Poirier criticizes Michael Chandler after online exchanges

Although the Louisiana native was looking to retire following his failed title fight against Makhachev at UFC 302 earlier last month, he has admitted he is still “hesitant” but is likely to put in one more exciting fight.

“Who the f*** are we?” Poirier asked on The MMA Hour. “You just got here buddy, you ain’t one of us, you ain’t us. I’ve been here, come on man, ‘We’re good,’ who the f*** are we? Welcome to the UFC man, you got one win in the UFC,” the 35-year-old said.

Poirier admitted that Chandler’s comment irked him, as he has only been with the organization since 2021 and has only won twice.

“Yeah bro (that annoyed me), he ain’t one of us, I been sinking my teeth into the UFC since January 2011 or 2010, you know, he just got here. Is he speaking for the lightweight division? Muscle Milk Mike needs to calm down.

“Chandler thinks he’s more of a draw than he is, I think. No (I wouldn’t fight him again), why? I beat him, he’s beating himself (now), he’s doing a good job beating himself. He’s wasted two years,” Poirier continued.

The former interim lightweight champion also claimed that ‘Iron’ has ‘Dana White privilege’ and that the UFC will likely take good care of him whether he fights the Irishman or not.

“I think he has the Dana White privilege, so he’ll be fine, they’ll take care of him. He’ll do what they say, that’s just the kind of guy he is, he’s just a company guy,” the 35-year-old claimed.

Dustin Poirier doesn’t believe he’s one of White’s favorites

After claiming that Chandler is a true company man and that the organization will take care of him no matter what, ‘The Diamond’ indicated that he does not believe he belongs among Dana White’s top executives.

“No, I don’t think so. I just never had that (connection with him). And I’ve had to fight and push back for everything I’ve ever gotten with the UFC, it’s been a war zone, every time behind the scenes, every contract, every fight,” Poirier shockingly admitted.

Before fighting Max Holloway for the interim title in 2019, the Louisianan asked to be released from the organization because of the offer they made him.

“I don’t remember exactly (why I wanted a release), but they offered me fights that I didn’t want, it was just (stupid). I asked to be released then. I ended up getting the fight with Max, so it worked out,” Poirier revealed.

Poirier mentions a possible fight against Nate Diaz as his next fight, but he is hesitant because he thinks the UFC will not want to do business with Diaz in the future. He would love to box the Stockton fighter.
