Grigor Dimitrov lashes out at Jannik Sinner over doping issue: “It’s all very strange”

During an interview with a Bulgarian announcer (he is in Sofia to play an exhibition match organized by his foundation with Novak Djokovic), Grigor Dimitrov analyzed Jannik Sinner’s doping problemin which he expressed his doubts about what had happened.

Dimitrov spoke of double standards and described the issue as follows: he stressed that the young Italian would be treated differently.

“As I said earlier in New York, it was the way the protocols were handled that surprised me the most. There are players who have gone through completely different processes, with different procedures. All this makes me doubt and think that there are double standards. But it is something that we see in other sports as well.

The way this case was handled was quite strange, even for someone like me who has been on the ATP Tour for years. We know things from the inside, especially how tournaments are run. As a member of the players’ committee, IIt’s strange when something like this, whether it’s news or a disputecomes out all of a sudden. It was strange for everyone,” he explained.

The Bulgarian spoke of preferential treatment reserved for the young Italian
