This is likely to be one of the most competitive races for the national top scorer in all European leagues.

Although he was not much of a challenge last year, the departure of Victor Osimhen from Napoli, who went on loan to Galatasaray, is a huge boost for the rest.

Lautaro Martínez, last season’s sharpest shooter in Serie A, has yet to find the net. Instead, his team-mate Marcus Thuram and Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui set the pace in a division packed with in-form players.

Keep an eye on Romelu Lukaku, he is growing in popularity at Napoli and will be given plenty of opportunities once he is up and running under long-term collaborator Antonio Conte.
