Frankie Muniz makes his NASCAR debut

Child actor Frankie Muniz charmed millions in the hit comedy show Malcolm in the middle but he’s now performing behind the wheel of a race car. More specifically, the celebrity competed in his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck race Friday night and called it “a great time.”

For those who don’t know, Muniz is one of the few celebrities who actually races competitively. In other words, this wasn’t his first rodeo, even though it was his debut race for the NASCAR series.

The race, the Rackley Roofing 200, was held at Nashville Superspeedway with Muniz driving for the Reaume Brothers Racing team. According to the team, Muniz will drive for four races this season, starting on Friday night.

Muniz will compete in the Bristol and Kansas City, Kansas races in the truck series. The fourth race is for the ARCA Menards Series in Brooklyn, Michigan.

Unfortunately, Muniz’s truck suffered overheating problems on lap 86, resulting in a 31st-place finish, which the actor calls “not the result we wanted.” He seems to be keeping his chin up after that rough introduction to NASCAR Craftsman Truck racing, which is a good thing.

While he may not be the most seasoned racer, he has more experience than many. Muniz has been racing since 2004, and his first experience behind the wheel came at the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race event. He was bitten by the motorsports bug and a few years later he moved on to more serious racing. He has been involved in the sport on and off ever since.

We don’t know for sure what Muniz’s future racing career will be. He did say that last week’s race helped him get into “race mode” thinking. So maybe we’ll see more of him on the track in the not-too-distant future.
