Former Okotoks Oiler Nick Blankenburg is moving to Nashville after signing a two-year deal with the Predators.

Blankenburg played three seasons in Columbus with the Blue Jackets after completing four seasons at the University of Michigan in the NCAA.

During his years with the Blue Jackets, Blankenburg recorded 18 points in 55 games, six of which came on goals. The defenseman would also split time with the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League (AHL) last year, where he played 24 games and recorded 13 points.

The 26-year-old from Washington, Michigan signed his new deal with the Predators on the opening day of NHL free agency on July 1. The deal is a two-year term that will see him earn $775,000 annually.

Blankenburg was a teammate of Dylan Holloway and Jacob Bernard-Docker during the 2017-2018 AJHL season.
