Quarterback Kirk Cousins said he is “feeling good” after the Atlanta Falcons lost 18-10 to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, following his return from an Achilles injury.

Cousins told reporters that the lack of movement against the Steelers was not due to the tendon he tore in Week 8 of the 2023 season.

“I feel good … Achilles feels good,” Cousins said Thursday. “I feel like I can move and push like I normally would.”

Cousins gave a similar update on his Achilles tendon in an appearance Wednesday on the Rich Eisen Show.

“I feel good, honestly. I felt good during the game,” Cousins told Eisen (3:50 of the video below. “Was really happy with how my ankle, if you will, not just the Achilles, but my ankle felt. Really good.

“I didn’t have any major knocks, so after week 1 I’m back to the usual post-match muscle soreness, but nothing extreme.”

Cousins completed 16 of 26 passes for 155 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in his debut for the Falcons.

One of those choices was returned by Steelers cornerback Donte Jackson for 49 yards in the final three minutes.

The veteran quarterback, who signed a four-year, $180 million contract to join Atlanta as a free agent after six seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, did not play during the preseason as he recovered from an injury from last season.

Now that Cousins has confirmed he’ll be fit for Week 2, the Falcons hope he can get more comfortable in the pocket with his new team before he visits the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday.
