Eagle Grove softball outlasts Southeast Valley in 9 innings, 7-5 – KQRadio


The Eagle Grove Eagles softball team returned to action Monday night as they traveled to Webster County to take on the Southeast Valley Jaguars at Southeast Valley Softball Field in Harcourt. Eagle Grove came in 14-6, while Southeast Valley came in 15-7.

Southeast Valley took an early advantage with 2 runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. The Jaguars added another run in the 4th to take a 3-0 lead, but Eagle Grove recovered to tie the game at 3-3 in the 5th before taking the lead in the 6th at 4-3. Southeast Valley would tie the game in the 7th at 4-4, forcing extra innings. Both sides traded a run in the 8th to make it 5-5, but Eagle Grove scored 2 runs in the 9th before securing a 7-5 victory.

Tarissa Middleton would go 3-for-5 with a triple and 2 RBI, while Brooklyn Osborn also drove in 2 runs. Mya Morgan went 1-for-3 with a solo homerun, while pitching all 9 innings, allowing 5 runs on 12 hits and striking out 5.

The Eagle Grove softball team returns to action on Tuesday, traveling to Algona to take on Bishop Garrigan in the Top of Iowa West game at 6 p.m.
