Dustin Poirier confirms retirement but has one condition involving Conor McGregor and Islam Makhachev

UFC 302 saw the clash between Dustin Poirier and Islam Makhachev. This was the former interim lightweight champion’s last rodeo for the championship, but he was defeated by Makhachev who submitted him in the last round. With that defeat, Poirier lost all his dreams of ever becoming a champion. Prior to their clash, Poirier had been hinting that he would retire from the world of MMA, and it seems that day is not that far away.

‘Diamond’ wanted to retire with the belt around his waist, but that never happened and now he’ll have to live with it. We saw Poirier hint on the UFC 303 analysis wing that he might be closer to retirement than we think. However, his recent social media escapades seem to have sealed the deal for Dustin Poirier.

Dustin Poirier has kept his retirement quiet following his UFC 302 defeat, but it looks like he’s finally headed there. The former interim lightweight champion took to the X-handle to add a pair of tweets that suggest there’s a good chance he’ll be retiring soon. The “Diamond” added a series of tweets to his X in which he challenged both Conor McGregor and Islam Makhachev to one last rodeo.
