Drake Powell Shows Up at Jayson Tatum Elite Camp

The new crop of freshmen in the UNC basketball program is special.

Not only is five-star Ian Jackson coming to Chapel Hill, he is also the most underrated player in the Class of 2025. While he is recognized as a five-star prospect, Drake Powell doesn’t necessarily get the attention he deserves as he proves just how good he is against some of the nation’s top prospects.

Powell was selected to attend the Jayson Tatum Elite Camp, as one of 14 players given the opportunity. Tatum, fresh off his first NBA title, hosts this invitation-only camp for the nation’s top high school and college wings.

Powell, like RJ Davis and Elliot Cadeau experience at CP3 Elite Camp, will have the opportunity to learn more about what it takes to play at the highest level and how to prepare for the obstacles he (and his fellow campers) will face at both the collegiate and professional levels.

As seen in the video clip above, Powell was simply balling away while participating in the college and pro runs of the event. His play was so standout that the Elite Youth Basketball social media team compiled the clip to showcase the highlights. From a two-handed slam dunk to several mid-range and three-point baskets, Powell showed glimpses of what he can do offensively, adding to what we’ve already heard about his defensive prowess.

It appears that Powell is ready to make an immediate impact in the college ranks, as the valuable experience he is gaining as a part of this camp will only help him further. Ultimately, Powell’s goal is to be ready to contribute to the UNC basketball program right away, as he has worked hard to compete for minutes from the start.
