Disappointment for British Army after defeat at Armed Forces Day in Crosfields rugby league

A disappointing performance saw the British Army rugby team suffer a heavy defeat to Crosfield on Armed Forces Day.

Despite taking the lead through Mikey McDonald, Crosfield crossed the try-line eight times in a comprehensive 40-14 win for the home side.

Ethan Riley and Jake Boardman scored consolation tries for Army in the second half, but the response was muted.

The two teams have provided an Armed Forces Day rivalry in recent years and although the match is usually closer, Crosfield was comfortably the better team that day.

Earlier in the day, the army’s development team showed their potential with a resounding victory over the Royal Marines.
