Things are starting to get hot in the second round of the Euro 2024 matches and on Thursday we have an important match in Group C in Denmark against England.

The Danes drew against Slovenia in their opener and need to pick up points, but now face tournament favorites England, who defeated Serbia 1-0 in the first match.

So dig into these Denmark vs England predictions and check out our picks for Euro 2024.

My analysis

Thursday’s game isn’t really a must-win area for either team, but it would help immensely.

Denmark drew 1-1 against Slovenia in a match in which they were favourites. England beat Serbia 1-0, although that was far from inspiring. The question is: what can we learn from these two games to help us heading into Thursday’s meeting?

The answer to that revolves around Jude Bellingham. The English star scored the only goal on Sunday and seemed like the player who won La Liga and the Champions League this year. He looked dangerous on the ball, even more so in the first half, and the Serbs were terrified of him. They solved the problem of his talents by continually defiling him.

We saw Bellingham fouled four times by Serbia, but in reality it probably should have been more. Serbian defenders attacked him harder and tried to make a statement, but got away with it several times before the referee took action. No one on the pitch had to make more mistakes than him, but he still put in an impressive performance with a Man of the Match result. However, we have seen the blueprint of how to beat him, by kicking chunks out of him every time.

That brings us to Denmark and finding the player in their lineup who is most likely to do this, and that should be Morten Hjulmand. The 24-year-old started in midfield alongside Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg against Slovenia, but it was the Sporting Lisbon player who sat deepest and protected Denmark’s defense, even receiving a booking.

A look at his most recent season in Portugal shows a player well-versed in fouling, averaging 1.4 fouls per match and picking up a whopping 12 cards in 30 matches. He is a player who is likely to be stuck in England on Thursday and in Bellingham in particular, with Bellingham operating in his part of the pitch. At +180 we get a good price as Hjulmand takes his second card of the tournament while Denmark tries to stop England’s danger man.

Jude Bellingham odds, support for today

My best choice
Jude Bellingham scores (+260 at Betano)

My analysis

We’ve already talked about the threat Bellingham can pose to England and how rival teams fear him. His 13th-minute header on Sunday was only his fourth goal for England in 30 appearances for his country, but he is England’s most dangerous player alongside Harry Kane.

Bellingham is now playing in the same advanced role for England as he played for Real Madrid last season, scoring 19 goals in 28 La Liga games for Los Blancos and a further four in the Champions League. Playing higher up the pitch allows him to get involved in attacking transitions more easily, and he often finds himself making runs into the penalty area to create chances. He will remain a big threat in front of goal here.

Morten Hjulmand to get a card

England must win

Below 2.5

In addition to our best bet, we will also be backing England to win. They weren’t exceptional against Serbia by any means, but they were very professional and in the second half you got the feeling they could have attacked more if they wanted to.

It was a pragmatic display that probably set the tone for the English tournament; keep it tight at the back and protect a weak backline. That should help us to not only help England win, but also score under 2.5 goals here.
