Deion Sanders is likely to leave Colorado football, according to an unreliable source

The fact that Paul Finebaum said that Deion Sanders would be leaving the Colorado football program after the 2024 season because Shedeur Sanders, Shilo Sanders and Travis Hunter are also leaving is actually a good sign when you think about it.

Finebaum continued September 8th edition of The Matt Barrie Show and predicted that Sanders would find an exit strategy and continue the “Deion Show” somewhere other than Boulder.

“I don’t think Deion Sanders is going to be around next year,” Finebaum said. “This season, if they don’t go to a bowl game, he’s going to look around and try to figure out an exit strategy. No more, no more — what’s the motivation for him to punish himself? So I think we’ve got to enjoy the Deion show. It’s going to be performed sometime next year. It might be off-Broadway. It might be on Broadway. But it’s not going to be in Boulder.”

Oh no, you might be thinking. Finebaum wouldn’t just say something based on rumors that have no factual basis.

He would. And he did. Finebaum admitted in mid-August that he made up a rumor about Lincoln Riley leaving USC after the 2024 season and Coach Prime replacing him as the Trojans’ head coach.

“I don’t want to back down from anything I once said, but it was the first week of SEC Media Days, and you were both there,” Finebaum told the GoJo and Golic show. “You start throwing things against the wall, and Lincoln Riley, I probably went a little overboard. I think he’s a good coach. I don’t think he’s a great coach, and I think his record in big games speaks for itself. I just brought Deion in, and that was before the reporting.”

So USC is not an option for Sanders in 2025 and beyond, as it appears Riley has things sorted out in the City of Angels. However, we also know that the Dallas Cowboys are not an option due to their extension for Dak Prescott.

Now that Shedeur isn’t an option for Dallas, neither is Deion.

We’ll be hearing many more stories about Coach Prime leaving Colorado in the coming months, but we’ve at least limited the number of stories speculating about his next destination.
