Dave Jarvis Named to ABCA Hall of Fame Class of 2025

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – – The American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) has announced Belmont’s new head coach Dave Jarvis will be inducted into the ABCA Hall of Fame on Wednesday morning in January 2025.

The eight members of the ABCA Hall of Fame Class of 2025 will be honored and inducted at the ABCA Hall of Fame Banquet, presented by C&H Baseball, to be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, during the 81st Annual ABCA Convention at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

“Coach Jarvis has been a pillar of Belmont Athletics for the past 27 years,” said Scott Corely, vice president and CEO of Belmont Athletics. “He is an incredible leader of young men and consistently wins baseball games for us. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this honor than Dave.”

Jarvis completed his 27e as Belmont’s skipper in 2024. Since taking over the program in the Bruins’ first Division I season in 1998, Jarvis has compiled a 763-710-2 record and is the program’s all-time winningest coach. The Bruins have recorded 30 or more wins in nine seasons under Jarvis’s leadership. He has a career record of 1,087-862-2 in 35 years as head coach.

His dedication to the program and player development has produced 29 professional baseball players. Guy Lipscomb — selected No. 151 overall by the Cleveland Guardians in the 2022 MLB Draft — is the highest draft pick in program history.

Jarvis earned his 1,000th career victory on February 23, 2022, with an 11-1 win over Middle Tennessee. On April 26, 2022, Jarvis earned his 700th career victory at Belmont with an 8-2 win over Evansville.

Jarvis led the Bruins to their second Missouri Valley Conference Tournament berth in 2024. Four Bruins earned All-MVC honors, including Bricklayer Landers (First team), Brodey Heaton (Second team), with Jack Rando And Joe Ruzicka deserve honorable mentions.

Prior to joining the Bruins, Jarvis spent nine years as the head coach at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, from 1985 to 1993. With Jarvis at the helm, the Raiders were consistently ranked in the National Junior College Athletic Association’s top 20 poll, culminating in a No. 4 ranking in 1992. He was selected as the Coach of the Year for the Midwest Community College Athletic Conference three times.

Jarvis began his NCAA Division I journey as an assistant coach at Murry State in the fall of 1993. He was primarily responsible for instructing batters and catchers, and teaching base running skills. Jarvis also used his extensive junior college network to create a recruiting pipeline for the Racers.

Induction into the ABCA Hall of Fame is the highest honor bestowed by the American Baseball Coaches Association. To be eligible, a coach must have served as a head baseball coach for at least 15 years and be a member of the ABCA, have made professional and personal contributions to the ABCA, have made significant contributions to the advancement of baseball at the local, national or international level, and exemplify high moral character and ethical standards, excellence and leadership.

The first Hall of Fame class was established in 1966 and since then more than 350 individuals have been honored.

Founded in 1945, the American Baseball Coaches Association is the premier professional organization for amateur baseball coaches. Its more than 15,000 members represent all 50 states and 41 countries. Since the first meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, the Association has grown to nine divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School, Youth and Travel.
