Dangerous surf forecast for San Diego coast starting Tuesday

SAN DIEGO (CNS) — Hazardous ocean swimming conditions and an increased risk of rip currents are forecast for coastal areas of San Diego Tuesday morning through Thursday evening, the National Weather Service reported Monday.

At 1:04 a.m. Monday, the NWS issued a statement about the dangers on San Diego’s coastal beaches during that time.

Surf of four to six feet was expected, with waves up to seven feet on Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to the weather service, the highest waves will occur on beaches on the southwest side of northern San Diego County. Dangerous rip currents are also expected.

According to meteorologists, the surf will decrease on Thursday.

The weather service advised staying out of the water to avoid dangerous swimming conditions.
