Creating Sammy the Sanitiser – Surf Coast Times

THE Women’s Sharing Shed and All Aboard DisAbility Support Services have come together for a joint project.

The collaboration between the two organizations began when All Aboard decided they wanted to encourage hand hygiene regularly throughout the day in an attractive way.

All Aboard DisAbility provides support to people in the Surf Coast community living with disabilities with a range of programs and services.

Through the generosity of the Women’s Shed, Sammy the Sanitiser was created, a humanoid figure who dispenses hand sanitiser.

The Women’s Shed donated all the supplies for the project, with Cindy Powers saying she is “grateful to be able to learn new skills and have the opportunity to help others”.

The Women’s Shed is a community organization that shares skills in an inclusive, safe and welcoming environment.

The creative minds at the Women’s Shed created Sammy to be portable with casters ready to be customized for any season, event and football championship by the wonderful competitors at All Aboard.

All Aboard chief executive Helen Cini said she is very grateful to be working with a group of enthusiastic women who have eagerly taken on the concept.

“I am also grateful that our charity can work with other local organizations that have a similar community focus. Our participants are very excited to meet Sammy the Sanitizer.”
