Colombian soccer president Ramón Jesurún and son arrested after Copa America final

The president of the Colombian Football Federation and his son were arrested for punching two security guards and pushing another shortly after the Copa America final at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami.

Ramón Jesurún Sr., 71, and his son Ramón Jamil Jesurún, 43, were arrested shortly after midnight Monday after a brawl with at least three stadium employees, who denied them access to the field after the match.

According to jail records, they were charged with three counts of assault on a specific officer or employee.

According to incident reports, the elder Jesurún – who is also vice-president of CONMEBOL, the organization that organizes the Copa America – punched a security manager, causing the man’s hat to fall off his head.

According to police, the younger Jesurún grabbed a uniformed security guard by the neck, dragged him to the ground and kicked him in the head. The son also pushed, pulled and grabbed a female security guard after raising his fist but not hitting her.

The security guard who was kicked in the head was taken to a local hospital by Miami-Dade Fire Department after the incident.

They were booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami just after 4:10 a.m. local time Monday. The younger Jesurún remained in jail, awaiting $1,000 bail, late Monday night while his father was released.

They were among 27 people arrested by Miami-Dade police during the final, while 55 others were removed from the stadium.
